2008 Pro Stock Rules and Specifications

Eligible Models
Any American made 1968 through current car except station wagons and convertibles. No wheel base alterations are permitted. NO Jeeps, trucks or Corvettes allowed. No Enduro cars.

 

Frames & Body:

Frames must remain stock and match body style. Cars with unitized bodies must be connected from the rear of the front clip to the front of the rear clip. 2” X 3” frame materials can be used to replace stock frame from stock clip back. Ford & Mopar may run full-framed Chevrolet chassis with all stock Chevrolet chassis components.

Minimum 103” wheelbase allowed.

Roll Cage must be a four post design. Top of roll bar must be connected to form a box section & be at least 4” above driver’s head. No threaded pipe fittings allowed. All roll bars must be a minimum of .090 wall thickness. Seamless tubing of 1 ¼” od or seamed tubing of 2” od must be used. Must have at least 3 door bars on driver’s side & 2 on passenger’s side.

Bracing around engine & radiator required with a maximum 2” pipe. One loop must be used with bracing allowed on each side from loop to frame & must be tied in to main roll cage. Bracing must be kept inside fenders. No bracing may extend beyond bumpers. No sharp edges allowed. All pipe ends must be capped. No extreme bracing allowed. 2 bars must run from top of roll cage to the frame. Bracing must be inside trunk. Cars must have securely fastened front and rear bumpers AT ALL TIMES! Rub rails are not permitted.

All bodies must consist of steel or aluminum stock-appearing body. Fiberglass roofs are permitted. 5 star bodies are permitted. Stock appearance will be at the discretion of track officials.

Full steel floorboards & steel firewalls to be put in stock location. Cockpit type firewalls can be used. They must start from the right side of drive shaft tunnel and continue straight up at an angle toward the right side of the car.

No wings, spoilers, or trunk lids that have the appearance of a wing spoiler.
All glass must be removed.
No windshields permitted.
Window screens are mandatory in place of windshields. Window screens must be secured with 3 supports in front of the driver.
All flammable materials must be removed from the car.
Plastic bumpers are permitted providing they cover a steel bumper.
Inner fender wells can be removed from the rear end of the car and the inner deck can be removed & replaced with new metal.

ALL CARS MUST WEIGH 3000 LBS MINIMUM AFTER RACE!!!!!!

Suspension:

All suspension part must be stock or stock replacement. No coil-over racing type shocks. Fixed heim-end shocks are allowed. Only one steel body shock with a fixed heim-end is allowed. Only one shock on each corner, as close to stock location as possible. Only one spring per corner. Aftermarket A arms may be used on uppers. Bottom A arms must be stock.

Weight jackers are allowed on all 4 corners.

Rears can be dropped and blocks are permitted under rears. No adjustable blocks under rears. No rear sliders permitted. Slotters on leaf springs can be used to set ride height only, not to adjust rear steer.

Must have operational four-wheel brakes.

Transmission & Rear End:

Ford 9” rears optional with stock mounts in stock location on any model car. Stock rears only, no floating rears. Rears may be locked and gears may be changed.

Stock transmissions only. Stock type clutches only, no aluminum flywheels, no multi-disc clutches. Clutch must be working at all times Transmissions must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc… Must have working reverse and no removing of gears.

Drive shaft loops are required.

Drive shaft must be painted white.

A 2” diameter viewing hole behind the flywheel is required. Dust covers must be easily removable for tech inspections.

No automatic transmission.

All Cars must have steel, blow-proof bell housings or blanket.

Engines:

Mopar – max cubic inch 366 (.030 maximum over bore)
Ford – max cubic inch 357 (.030 maximum over bore)
Chevrolet – max cubic inch 355 (.030 maximum over bore)

Dart or angle-plug heads are permitted. No aluminum heads. No porting or polishing of heads or intake.

Cast iron or aluminum 2 or 4 barrel intakes are permitted.

Hydraulic or solid cams are permitted. Roller tip rockers are permitted. No roller cams or roller lifters. High valve covers are permitted.

Stock type ignition only. No super coils or MSD ignitions. NO MSD bullet distributors. No MSD pro coils or power coils are permitted Must have stock part number on distributor and all stock components.

Motors may not set back beyond #1 spark plug to center of ball joint.
Headers are permitted.

Carburetors:

Stock 2 barrel Rochester or stock Holley 4412 carburetors are both permitted. Only stage one work can be done to the carburetor for the 2008 season. Tech inspector will have final discretion on carburetors.

Fuel System:

Fuel cells must be relocated to inside of trunk and securely fastened between frame rails with at least two 1 ½” wide straps. Fuel cells cannot be lower than center of rear. Fuel cell vent hose must extend equal to or lower than bottom of fuel cell. Fuel cell must be place in a metal shell made of at least 20 – gauge steel.

Stock mechanical fuels pumps are mandatory. No electric fuel pumps.  No alcohol or nitrous fuels permitted. FUEL CELLS ARE MANDATORY!

Battery:

Battery must be relocated but must be securely fastened and have a protective covering regardless of location. No batteries will be permitted in the driver’s compartment.

Wheels and Tires:

Steel wheels only. 8” maximum rim width. All wheels must be reinforced and be attached with over sized lug nuts. Steel bead locks are permitted on all four wheels.

Hoosier Racing Tires:
8.0/84.0-15 D 30 Compound and 8.0/87.0-15 D30 compound are permitted.

American Racer Tires:
84.0/8-15DT and 86.0/8.0-15DT are permitted.

Grooving and softening of tires is permitted.

Safety:

Seat belts MUST be properly attached to frame or roll cage and be in good operating condition.

Approved 5-point seat belt and anti-sub belt are mandatory.

Only SNELL approved full-faced helmets must be worn whenever the car is in operation.

Fire suits, flame retardant gloves and neck collars are mandatory!

A fire extinguisher must be mounted inside the racecar and in reach of driver.

Driver’s side window net is mandatory and must be closed while on the track.
Racing seat headrest is required and must be securely mounted to the roll cage.

 

 

Penalties:

If caught cheating:

                1st offense – 50 point deduction and that’s night’s pay
                2nd offense – all points accumulated to date for the year and that night’s pay
                3rd offense – banned for the remainder of the current season

 

Track officials will make final decisions on all rules and the interpretations of the rules.

Anything not covered in these rules, please ask a track official before questionable modifications are made.
